Blood-based markers

This study aims to characterize the association of history of emotional childhood maltreatment with biomolecular markers (i.e. telomere length, mitochondrial bioenergetics and biogenesis) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and blood plasma (selected immune-response mediators for inflammatory profiling).

Many people find the challenges of everyday life (school, education, work, family) stressful. Stress can cause various changes in the body, including a feeling of “low energy.” To understand how these changes occur, we’ll investigate mitochondria, the “powerhouses” of our cells.
